Music Mondays - First Aid Kit

Swedish Sisters Johanna and Klara are sisters, the duo making up First Aid Kit.

This recommendation came from my brother last weekend...he watched them do an acoustic session at Glastonbury.

My favourites on the "Lion's Roar" album are 'This Old Routine' and 'I Found a Way'.

Music Mondays - Tom Odell

This week I am listening to Sussex boy (he's from Chichester) and BRITs Critics Choice Award Winner Tom Odell.  I love his voice.

His album Long Way Down is out now and I am certainly tempted, despite the poor review it recently received from NME.  It made me chuckle when I read Tom's dad phoned the magazine as he was not amused when he saw that they had only given his son's a 0 out o 10 review for the recent release.  how embarrassing!!!

If you want you can see Tom perform at the HMV in Chichester this Thursday at 5pm.  Check out his blog.

Music Mondays - Mumford & Sons

I absolutely love Mumford & Sons, so was so pleased when I heard they were releasing their second album at the end of the September.  On the release date I couldn't wait and downloaded it straight away.  I haven't had much chance to listen to it until this weekend.

I am already hooked.  I like the fact that they haven't changed a bit, why fix what wasn't broken!  'I will wait' is already my favourite song.

Music Mondays - Matt Corby

I only came across this artist via Fearne Cotton on Twitter today and I am totally hooked.  Matt's voice is gorgeous and I can not get enough.

If you click on the link Matt Corby you can watch the video for and get a FREE copy of his Ep 'Made of Stone'.

Matt is an Australian singer/songwriter in his 20's, who has a voice very similar to Jeff Buckley.

Nice to see you again.

Music Mondays - Folk - Fossil Collective

The Dermot O'Leary show really is one of the easiest listens on a Saturday afternoon.  I have to confess to finding his voice quite sexy, which makes for an even easier listen.  The show revolves around great music and highly talented, original, emerging musicians.

So on a dark, gloomy and wet afternoon in the car we listened to an interview with a relatively new folk band called Fossil Collective.  A two-piece band, David Fendick and Jonny Hooker, from Leeds.  In addition to sounding like the nicest boys during their conversation, the music was brilliant.

If you get a chance check out Fossil Collective live on BBC Radio 2.

They remind me of Fleet Foxes.

I'd love to hear what you think of this Fossil Collective – Let It Go

Nice to see you again.

Music Mondays - Our Versions of Events

This blog is not intended to be a resource of ground breaking new music.   My intention with Music Mondays is just to share with you the music I enjoy listening to and songs that have an impact on me.

I am obsessed with music, at the moment listening to music takes preference over TV.  I so much prefer listening to my ever evolving random play list or the radio, while I potter with a million different projects!  I can not wait for a new song to come on the radio that I as soon as I hear what I then to know immediately, to be my new favourite.

What I do find an ongoing challenge though is, knowing when an artist or a song can match the promise of an emerging artist.  How many can confirm a great album.  Well 'Our Versions of Events' did come with a 100% guarantee.  This girls voice is amazing and when paired with her own handcrafted harmonious lyrics then I am in heaven.

Emeli Sande
These two tracks are my favourites of the album; Breaking the Law and Hope.

For any lucky fans of Cold Play she is supporting them on tour (again - so must be good).  In the meantime you have 3 days left to listen to her sing live on Radio 2 Simon Mayo.

Also two interesting facts about the singer/songwriter, which you may or may not know.  her real name is Adele and she was studying to become a doctor before she broke into the music industry.

Nice to see you again.

Music Mondays - Soulmates

It is not my intension to expose myself too much here as a soppy cow, although I fear I am just about to.

It was my gorgeous hubby's birthday at the weekend, so I felt it only appropriate to dedicate today's Music Monday to him.

I am very proud of our relationship and our family, which is why I have decided to share this today.

I am very lucky to have been with my husband for nearly 18 years, married for 7.  We got together when we were just 16, we are almost childhood sweethearts.  He is the most supportive, kind and generous person.  He is such a happy go lucky person, who always makes me laugh and keeps me going during any tough times.  I can talk to him about anything, he is my true confidant.

He is my best friend my soulmate.

Music Mondays - Running Shuffle

Well after two weeks off from exercise - what better start to a Monday morning.  So despite the wind and rain at 8am this morning I managed a healthy 40 minute run.

These were my top three motivational songs on the Running Playlist this morning.

Kickstarts - Example
Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
Louder - Dj Fresh

What gets you running faster and longer!

Nice to see you again.

Music Mondays

I absolutely love music in all its forms.  I can get so completely lost in music.

It can carry you somewhere new or old, make you laugh or cry as well as remind you of moments shared and lost.

I am no expert but I know what I like, so here I am sharing with you.

I have just discovered the wonderful pairing of Joy Williams and John Paul White, that is The Civil Wars.  This song is beautiful, so is the album.

What are you listening to?

Nice to see you again.
